Confirmation
Confirmation is a special church service in which a person confirms the promises that were made when they were baptised. If you were baptised at a christening when you were a child, your parents and godparents made these promises on your behalf. As a young person or adult, you may be ready to affirm these promises for yourself and commit your life to following Jesus Christ. At a confirmation service, you make these promises for yourself. Your friends and family as well as the local Christian community will be there to promise to support and pray for you.
Confirmation
The local bishop will lay their hands on your head and ask God’s Holy Spirit to give you the strength and commitment to live God’s way for the rest of your life.
If you’d like to discuss confirmation further, then please get in contact with the ministry team so that we can meet you for a coffee (or whatever you fancy!)

The Church of England website has some great FAQs for Confirmation, which might be a good basis for a conversation between you and the minister.

Adults preparing for Confirmation

We encourage adults preparing for confirmation to join us on a discipleship course, such as The Bible Course or Alpha. This is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith with others from the church family. If you’re unable to attend an upcoming course that does not mean you cannot be confirmed. Instead, one-to-one preparation with one of the ministers is another option, with a few meetings over coffee chatting about the Christian faith. Attending a discipleship course is preferable as it allows for you, and others, to share the journey together as members of the church family.

Young People preparing for Confirmation

Young people in our church family can speak with one of our ministry team about confirmation when they are ready, and we'll work out together the best way to prepare them for the service and the promises they'll make.
